    Now Hear This! More Vehicle Recalls Heading Your Way in 2014

    When you flip on the morning news or scan your favorite online news site, it surely seems like there are more vehicles being recalled these days. And unfortunately, this trend is continuing.

    According to the Centre of Automotive Management (CAM), and reported by The New Zealand Herald, more than 20.5 million vehicles were recalled in the U.S. last year (BMW was the fourth highest manufacturer of vehicles on the list), which is five million more than in 2012. Most of these recalls were due to electronic malfunctions and safety glitches.

    So you replaced that expensive Subaru part in your Subaru a few months ago, only to find out that it has recently been recalled. Should you be reimbursed by the manufacturer for the Subaru part you just had repaired?

    In short, yes. Your vehicle’s manufacturer will cover the replacement of the recalled part, as long as you went to a qualified mechanic who used original equipment factory (OEM) parts for the repair.

    According to this article, “Federal regulations state that automakers are required to reimburse for costs to fix a defect as long as receipts for the repairs are submitted.”
